In 1980, Tilda's found its new custodian in Edward Maher, a visionary baker who recognized the growing needs of the expanding town. With tireless dedication and innovative spirit, Edward transformed this small beachside gem into a thriving cornerstone of the North Fork. Over the course of four decades, Tilda's expanded its horizons by acquiring neighboring properties and continuously evolving to meet the demands of its loyal patrons.
In early 2019, Edward Maher entrusted the legacy of Tilda's Bake Shop to the capable hands of Dan Reinwald, a fourth-generation baker with deep roots in the tradition of creating mouthwatering delights. The Reinwald family's baking lineage spans generations, with Dan's grandfather having worked alongside the original owner, Ernie Kasten, shortly after Tilda's first opened its doors. This rich history of baking excellence carried forward, with the Reinwald family establishing several successful bakeries from the Bronx to Huntington.
Dan Reinwald, the current owner, is not only a custodian of Tilda's but a passionate torchbearer of the Reinwald family's baking heritage.
